Soap dish

A simple, elegant soap dish. Thrown in the potter’s wheel and then gently impressed with lightly splayed fingers. The clay is left bare on the base, with glaze poured from one edge to the other on the top face. Thrown with a golden-brown clay body that flashes grey in places and shows random, dark flecks of iron-bearing basalt through the glaze. A raised, unglazed ring in the centre keeps soap elevated and dry.

Reduction fired in a gas kiln.  Colour variation in the glaze and clay body will differ from piece to piece due to the nature of the making and firing process.
